Lacey may not have known what she wanted to study when she came to college but with the opportunities and support she's found at Camosun, she's launched her career as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist.
"I struggled in high school." As a child, Lacey was diagnosed with Epilepsy. 鈥淚t really impacted my mental health.鈥 By high school, she had lost interest in her academics and just focused on the gym, the field and the shop/tech wing of her school. 鈥淚 came to Camosun not really knowing what I wanted to do.鈥
She originally came to Camosun to play for the聽Chargers聽and enrolled in the聽Civil Engineering Access program, offering insights into all the engineering disciplines.聽
鈥淲hen we toured聽Camosun Innovates聽as part of our聽Mechanical Engineering聽section, I was hooked,鈥 says Lacey. 鈥淚 switched programs a week later.鈥
鈥淭here are so many people at Camosun that want you to succeed.鈥
She attributes her success to the support she received from her instructors and peers. She received support from Camosun鈥檚聽Centre for Accessible Learning聽to help her with the effects of her Epilepsy. 鈥淚t was a relieving support,鈥 says Lacey.
