The bursary is made available through the generous bequest of Donald Stewart Cameron held in a permanent endowment fund at the Victoria Foundation. This bequest was made in memory of his wife Irene (1920-1991). The bursary honours her contributions as a teacher of shorthand typing and office administration skills, both in England and in British Columbia. Arriving from Liverpool, England in 1953, Irene was the first exchange teacher at Lake Cowichan High School. She taught commercial studies under her maiden name "Miss Neilson."
